Th (2/2; Day 4): Finish Section 0.11 (0.11.8
on) and Do Sections 0.12 to 0.16 and Section 1.1 (skimmed first part of this;
went through Part G, 1.1.10). Bring questions (+ HW / Answer handouts), the old
test, and the online outline of exam topics for next time.
¥ Bring handouts for
0.11 and 0.12 to class.

1A (Chapter 0), HW DUE (Ch.0 only), BRING A SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR. I will ask you to indicate whether or not you can print
the solutions off of my website.
¥ Finish Section
1.2, and Start Section 1.3 (through 1.3.16, Part J).
Tu (2/14; Day 7): Finish Section 1.3
(starting with 1.3.17; Parts K-P, though P you can review on your own), Do
Sections 1.4 and 1.5 (Parts F and G are optional reading for previewing
calculus), and Start 1.6 (Part B). You can do the HW through 1.6, #1d.
Th (2/16; Day 8): Finish Section 1.6 (We are skimming over domains of composite
functions, as they are set up in 1.6; you donÕt have to do those parts of the
HW. Also, the word problems in Part F are optional reading.) and Do Sections
1.7 (Parts B and C), 1.8, 1.9, and 1.10 (and skim Section 1.11, though 1.11
wonÕt be on your test). Can do HW for Ch.1. Bring questions (+ HW /
Answer handouts), the old test, and the online outline of exam topics for next
time.

About It: What linear functions are their own inverses? Think graphically.
Think of a pair of dice adding up to 7 and the symmetries therein.

Tu (2/28; Day 11): Finish Section 2.4 and Do
Section 2.5 (Parts A-H; we will skip part I on the Upper and Lower Bound Rules,
which will not be on our tests, though skim it by yourself sometime) and the
ÒQFÓ Method for Factoring Quadratics. Can do HW through 2.5.
Th (3/1; Day 12): Do Sections 2.6 and 2.7.
Can do HW through 2.7.
Tu (3/6; Day 13): Do Sections 3.1, 3.2, and
3.3 (through Part F). Can do HW through 3.3, except #5 (you can do this after
next lecture).
Th (3/8; Day 14): Finish Section 3.3 (Part
G), Do Sections 3.4/3.5, Do Section 4.1. Bring questions (+ HW / Answer
handouts), the old test, and the online outline of exam topics for next time.
Can do all of HW #2 and HW #3, 4.1.
Tu (3/13; Day 15): Do Sections 4.2-4.4: Notes
4.08 through 4.24 (through middle of Part C). Questions. Can do HW #3 through
4.2-4.4, #8. Bring questions (+ HW / Answer handouts), the old test, and the
online outline of exam topics.
Th (3/15; Day 16): MIDTERM 2 (Chs. 2 and
3), HW DUE, BRING A SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR AND MAYBE SOME READING MATERIAL OR
SOME HOMEWORK TO WORK ON IF YOU FINISH PART 1 EARLY. The exam will be divided into two parts, with calculators
forbidden on the second part. You may want to bring reading material or work in
case you finish Part 1 early. You may leave after you are done with Part 2.
Tu (3/20; Day 17): Finish Sections 4.2-4.4
(do Part G later when we do 4.8) and do Section 4.5. Can do HW through 4.5.
Th (3/22; Day 18): Notes 4.53 to 4.79:
Sections 4.6 and 4.7 (through Part D). Can do HW through 4.6.
Tu (3/27; Day 19): Notes 4.80 to 4.92 (skip
Part C on 4.93) and 5.01 to 5.03: Finish Section 4.7, Section 4.8, and start
Section 5.1 (Parts A and B). Also, Part G from Sections 4.2-4.4 (Notes 4.32) on
word problems. Can do all HW for Ch.4. Bring questions (+ HW / Answer
handouts), the old test, and the online outline of exam topics for next time.
Th (3/29; Day 20): Notes 5.04 to 5.21: Finish

HOMEWORK TO WORK ON IF YOU FINISH PART 1 EARLY. The exam will be divided into two parts, with
calculators forbidden on the second part. You may want to bring reading
material or work in case you finish Part 1 early. You may leave after you are
done with Part 2.
Th (4/12; Day 22): Section 5.3, Sections 5.4
/ 5.5 Handout: Notes 5.22 to 5.41 and Handout. Handout is given out in class,
but here it is: Handout. Memorize the IDs!!
You do not have to memorize the half-angle IDs for tangent for now (you may
have to verify them, though; also, you may need to memorize them later in Calc
II), the product-to-sum IDs, and the sum-to-product IDs, although you may be
called upon to use them. Can do HW #4 up through 5.3.
Tu (4/17; Day 23): Finish Sections 5.4 / 5.5
(skim 5.53; it comes up in calculus), Do 6.1 and 6.2: Notes 5.42 to 5.52 and
6.01 to 6.17. Can do HW #4 up through 6.2.
¥ The optional notes
on 5.53 are elaborated on in Section 3.4 in Math 150: how trig comes up in
derivatives and limits of difference quotients.
Th (4/19; Day 24): Do 6.3, 6.4, and 6.5 (6.5
is not on your test; there is an optional handout on this in the Notes for
Midterm 4 page): Notes 6.18 to 6.38 [we skimmed 6.5]. Can finish HW #4. Bring
questions (+ HW / Answer handouts), the old test, and the online outline of
exam topics for next time.
Tu (4/24; Day 25): Do Sections 7.1-7.3 and
Start Section 7.4 through Part C: Notes 7.01 to 7.21. Questions. Can do HW
through 7.4, #1. Bring questions (+ HW / Answer handouts), the old test, and
the online outline of exam topics.
Th (4/26; Day 26): MIDTERM 4 (Chs. 5, 6),
HW DUE, BRING A SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR AND MAYBE SOME READING MATERIAL OR SOME
HOMEWORK TO WORK ON IF YOU FINISH PART 1 EARLY. The exam will be divided into two parts, with
calculators forbidden on one part. You may want to bring reading material or
work in case you finish Part 1 early. You may leave after you are done with
Part 2.
Tu (5/1; Day 27): Finish 7.4: Notes 7.22 to
7.35, Discuss 7.5, 7.6 (we're not "doing" them). Start Section 8.1
(up through part of Part D, systems of two equations): Notes 8.01 to 8.14. In
this class, we're doing a preview of the first three chapters of: http://www.kkuniyuk.com/Math254.html.
Can do all HW on Ch.7 and some HW on 8.1 (up through #5, though #5 is
optional).
Th (5/3; Day 28): Return Exams and Solutions,
Finish Section 8.1: Notes 8.15 to 8.25, but Skip 8.22-8.23 and also Parts H and
I (8.26 to 8.33; this is not required material for the Final). Do Section 8.2:
Notes 8.15 to 8.46; we will Skim Part G (8.44-8.46). (We are skimming Section
8.3, and it will not be on your Final; the HW for 8.3 is optional.) Maybe start
Section 8.4 (Parts A and B): Notes 8.57 to 8.59. The notes for Linear Algebra
(Math 254) will elaborate. Can do HW through 8.2. Can also do HW for 8.4, #1
and #2a if we also do 8.4, AB.
Tu (5/8; Day 29): Finish Section 8.4: Part C: Notes 8.60 to
8.66; we will Skim Part D on 8.66 (cross products will not be on your Final).
We are skimming Sections 8.3 and 8.5; they will not be on your Final. Notes
8.63-8.64 on EROs and determinants will be covered on the HW, and that material
is fair for the Final. Do Sections 9.1/9.6 (Skip nPr), 9.2 (Skip Part C), and 9.3 (Skip Part C and Page
9.25). Can do HW through 9.3. Bring questions (+ HW / Answer handouts) for next
time, the old final, and the online outline of exam topics.
Th (5/10; Day 30): Sections 9.4 and 9.5 (see
Math 119 notes and websites on PascalÕs triangle: Notes
for Quiz 2): Notes 9.26 to 9.32. Also, Chapter 10. Can do HW through
Chapter 10. Bring questions for next time.
Tu (5/15; Day 31): More Chapter 10? Wrapping
up. Show grades. Bring questions (+ HW / Answer handouts), the old final, and
the online outline of exam topics.
Th (5/17; Day 32): FINAL, HW DUE (YOU MAY WANT TO PHOTOCOPY IT, IF YOU WON'T
